Port Stanley Home Hardware Changes Ownership

After fourteen years of operating the Port Stanley Home Hardware store, Karl Berkelmans has sold his business interests to Geerlinks Home Hardware of St. Thomas, with Saturday 10th, 2018 being his last day as boss. On Sunday February 11th, the store will be closed for inventory.

Karl said his store wasn't up for sale at the time, but one day an offer came through, and decided maybe it's time to take it. His reasons for selling were just that it was time for a change and that he had no real plans for the future except for taking it easy for awhile and maybe playing a little golf.

Buying the Port Stanley Home Hardware in 2004 was a great move which has turned out to be a most memorable experience with no regrets, and that he always enjoyed joking around with the customers. Karl would also like to extend his sincere gratitude to all his dedicated and loyal customers who supported him through-out the fourteen years of being in business in Port Stanley.

All employees will be staying as a condition of the sale and Chris Daminato will be the new manager of the store.

A farewell party for Karl will be held on Sunday February 18th, 2018 at the Port Stanley Legion from 2-6 p.m. with everyone welcome.

Karl Arriving Late

At the Farewell Party Karl arrived just a little late.

Although Karl arrived a little late for his Farewell party, he did say later his excuse was that he's not on the clock anymore, and after all that he was retired. There was a good crowd of people to offer Karl a sincere farewell and some even offered a few good tips on what to do during retirement.

He mingled with the crowd offering his thanks to all those Wonderful People of Port Stanley for being loyal customers over the last fourteen years. He was truly grateful for being welcomed into the Port Stanley community and for all the support he received for him and his business which made coming to work a real pleasure. Many of his customers are now good friends.

He also wished to thank all those people that patiently worked with him over the years at the store, it was great, thanks Olga, Carlie, Bev, Adrian, Wayne, Kirsty, Jim, Logan, Cassie, and Matt. Karl also offered congratulations to the new manager of the store Chris Daminato and to the Geerlinks Team for everything and that he was quite confident that the new team would provide the same outstanding service to the community.
