Watch Out Maroons Sailors Are A Close Second

The eighth set of games of the 2017 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Wednesday, June 21st in a mix of sun and cloud, with temperatures rising over the day to 26 degrees Celsius. Perfect weather to dry up the leftover traces of the rain still on the diamond and field from the evening before.

In Game 1 the Maroons took the early lead in the first with five runs while keeping the Blues scoreless until the third. With some great playing, the Blues finally managed three runs in the third, giving up one to the Maroons in the fourth, and tying the game with three in the fifth. In the top of the sixth, the Blues took the lead for a moment with one, only to lose it in the bottom when the Maroons surged ahead with two. The Maroons held on to their one point advantage until the eighth when the lead was swapped again with the Blues. The ninth proved to be the final showdown when the Maroons regained their one point advantage lead with two to take the win with a final score of Maroons 10 - Blues 9

In Game 2 the Sailors started things off with one in the second to take the early lead and took off big-time with five runs in the third. The Pirates finally got on the scoreboard with one in the fourth, but gave up five more runs in the fifth to the Sailors. With the Sailors leading 11-1, turning the game around for the Pirates proved to be just wishful thinking, and came up short with only three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh giving the win to the Sailors with a final score of Sailors 11 - Pirates 5

In Game 3 Boxall took the early lead in the first with four runs, and adding one more in the second, while Shedden got on the scoreboard with one. Boxall added one in the third, while Shedden picked up one in the fourth and the fifth keeping Boxall still leading 6-3. The sixth gave Boxall another three, while Shedden added one. Boxall's last run came in the eighth giving Shedden a chance to turn the game around, but fell short in the ninth with only two runs to give the win to Boxall with a final score of Boxall 10 - Shedden 6
