Still Tied After Ten

The fifth set of games of the 2017 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Wednesday, June 7th in mainly sunny skies with temperatures rising over the day to 22 degrees Celsius. The wind was from the northeast at 20 km/h which didn't seem to have much effect on the games. A first for the season today was a tie game, even after playing the extra inning.

In Game 1 Boxall got started first with two runs in the first both from the same player. While the Maroons had trouble getting their first run, this game turned out to be the closest game ever with Boxall keeping the lead until the fourth when the Maroons finally got a player around the bases. In the fifth inning the Maroons managed to get another run to tie the game which continued in a draw right to the end of the ninth inning. An extra inning was played to break the tie but this game still ended tied when both teams managed to get a player around the bases in one of the best games of the season with a final score of Boxall 3 - Maroons 3

In Game 2 Shedden started things off with one in the first, only to have the Pirates comeback in the second with four to take the lead. The third saw Shedden making four runs to regain the lead by one, and then making one in the sixth, and one in the eighth to take the win with a score of Shedden 7 - Pirates 4

In Game 3 the Sailors were in good form taking the early lead with four runs in the second, and adding one more in the third. The Sailors lead dropped by one in the fourth because of the Blues first run of the game, while in the fifth the Sailors added another two runs to lead the Blues with a score of 7-1. The Blues came back in the seventh with two runs, while the Sailors returned two in the eighth to easily take the win with a score of Sailors 9 - Blues 3
