Shedden Wins 75 Over Boxall, Blues Win 65 Over Pirates, Maroons Win 142 Over Sailors

The eighth set of games of the Paul Caldwell Wooden Bats League 2019 season were held Wednesday, June, 26th in mostly sunny skies with a high for the day a balmy 28 degrees Celsius, and the wind was from the West at 20 km/h. The Humidex reached 33 and the UV index was 8 or very high. Today was the warmest day so far this season and again most players seemed to be playing better for it.

In Game 1 Boxall took an early lead with three runs in the first while Shedden followed with two. In the fourth Shedden stole the lead with three, while action in the seventh picked up a bit with just a single run for Boxall and two more runs for Shedden. With Boxall down three points and playing in the ninth, it seemed that this inning was their inning of hope and for awhile it seemed like it was anyone's game to win. Boxall may have been down but with the bases loaded twice in that ninth inning, it got so close, but only a single run was made still down by two, giving another win to Shedden with a final score of Shedden 7 - Boxall 5.

In Game 2 the Pirates managed a single run in the second to get on the scoreboard and added two more runs in the fourth to lead by three. The Blues managed to pick up three runs in the fifth to tie the game. In the seventh the Blues pulled ahead by making two runs compared to just a single run for the Pirates. The Blues managed to keep that one point lead for the rest of the game even though both teams managed a single run in the ninth giving the win to the Blues with a final score of Blues 6 - Pirates 5.

Game 3 was not your average close game and it seemed to be quite the turnaround for the Maroons as they seemed unstoppable with four runs in the first, a single run in the second, and added two more in the fourth. The fifth was still good for the Maroons adding another four runs to sit at eleven, and in the seventh adding only a single to make twelve. The score remained unchanged until the ninth when the Sailors finally had a breakthrough with two runs taking them out of those scoreless doldrums, while the Maroons added another two to easily take the win with a final score of Maroons 14 - Sailors 2.
