Shedden over Sailors, Pirates stun Maroons, Boxall beats Blues

The twenty-first set of games of the 2017 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Friday, August 18th in cloudy skies, with temperatures rising over the day to 24 degrees Celsius, a Humidex of 30 and the wind from the West Southwest at 24 km/h. With only four games left, this years rankings are mostly undecided with only one team in first leading by two wins.

In Game 1 Shedden took an early lead in the second with one run, adding two in the fourth, and one in the sixth, while the Sailors were having a meltdown. In the seventh the Sailors came back to life with two runs, while Shedden got four in the eighth. With Shedden leading 8-2, all hope for a win for the Sailors seemed impossible, but in the ninth the Sailors came back with a vengeance, sending five around the bases, only one run short of a tie. This good close game ended with Shedden taking the win by only one with a final score of Shedden 8 - Sailors 7.

In Game 2 the Pirates took the early lead with two runs in the first, with the Maroons trailing behind with one. The Pirates were playing well adding four in the third, two in the fourth, and one run in the fifth, while the Maroons trailed with another single in the sixth. The seventh was generous putting the Pirates ahead by another four, and one more in the eighth for a total of fourteen. In the ninth, the Pirates sent three more around the bases, while the Maroons got a single, giving the Pirates an easy win with a final score of Pirates 17 - Maroons 3.

In Game 3 the Blues took an early lead with a single run in the second, while Boxall came back in the third with a single to tie. Boxall took the lead in the fourth by a single run, and then finally in the eighth, extended their lead by another three runs, enough to easily take the win with a final score of Boxall 5 - Blues 1.
