Shedden Over Maroons, Pirates Take Boxall, Sailors Sink Blues

The thirteenth set of games of the 2018 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Wednesday, July, 18th, 2018 in mostly sunny skies, with temperatures rising to 26 degrees Celsius and a Humidex of 28. The wind was from the north north-west at 13 km/h, and the UV index was 8 or very high.

In Game 1 action was close until the third inning when Shedden finally got on the scoreboard with two runs, while the Maroons came back in the fourth with three to take the lead. In the fifth Shedden regained the lead with two runs, extended their lead by one in the sixth, then back to a tie in the seventh when the Maroons got their last two runs. With the game tied, Shedden took back the lead adding three runs in the eighth when Jacques managed a home run. Shedden managed another run in the ninth to win the game with a final score of Shedden 9 - Maroons 5.

In Game 2 the Pirates got on the scoreboard with two runs in the first inning, sent five around the bases in the third, and seemed to take a break with just a single in the fourth to stop at eight. The Pirates managed to keep Boxall scoreless until the sixth inning when Boxall finally got on the scoreboard with a single run. Both teams managed their final runs in the seventh scoring two runs each, but the Pirates because of their early lead easily took the win with a final score of Pirates 10 - Boxall 3.

In Game 3 the Sailors regained their form by sending five players around the bases in the first to take the early lead. The Blues managed to get on the scoreboard in the fourth with two, but could not stop the Sailors from another round of five runs in the bottom of the fourth. In the sixth the Blues got their final three runs of the game, while the Sailors added two, then another in the seventh, and finally their last three runs in the eighth. Needless to say the Sailors got their game back easily taking the win with a final score of Sailors 16 - Blues 5.
