Shedden over Blues, Pirates over Boxall, Maroons over Sailors

The fourteenth set of games of the 2017 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Wednesday, July 19th in partly cloudy skies, with temperatures rising over the day to 29 degrees Celsius, a Humidex of 36 and the wind from the West at 17 km/h. The heat today seemed to be highest so far for the season, causing an influx of umbrellas at the game for shade.

In Game 1 it took Shedden a little longer to get on the scoreboard, but when it finally happened in the fourth, it was worth the wait with three runs. Shedden seemed to have control of the game easily keeping the lead by adding a run in the the sixth, and another two runs in the eighth, while keeping the Blues scoreless. The game ended with an easy win going to Shedden with a final score of Shedden 6 - Blues 0.

In Game 2 the Pirates got off to an early lead in the first by sending one man around the bases. Boxall managed to tie the game with a run in the third, and took the lead with another two runs in the fifth. In the sixth the Pirates took control gained another four runs to now lead by two. The seventh inning stole the Pirates lead, and gave Boxall a much needed tie after making two runs. With the game tied, the Pirates got that tiebreaker in the eighth, and held on for the win with a final score of Pirates 6 - Boxall 5.

In Game 3 the Maroons dazzeled the Sailors with three runs in the second, while the Sailors only managed two in the third, keeping them down by one. The Maroons carried on with a run in the fourth, one in the fifth, while the Sailors came back with two runs in the sixth, but still ended up down by one. In the seventh the Maroons managed another run extending their lead by two and kept control for the rest of the game taking the win with a final score of Maroons 6 - Sailors 4.
