Sailors Take Boxall, Pirates Take Maroons, Shedden Takes Blues

The sixth set of games of the 2018 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Friday, June 8th in mostly sunny skies, with temperatures rising over the day to 25 degrees Celsius. The wind was from the north at 8 km/h, and a UV index of 9 or very high.

In Game 1 the Sailors took the early lead with a single run in the first, while Boxall came back with two in the second to steal the lead. The Sailors had a bit of luck in the fourth sending five players around the bases to lead 6-2. In the sixth both teams added another run while in the seventh Boxall continued with two more to end the day with five. Meanwhile the Sailors added another single run to their lead in the eighth to end the day winning with a score of Sailors 8 - Boxall 5.

In Game 2 the Maroons got on the scoreboard with a single run in the first, while the Pirates managed quietly to send four around the bases to steal the lead even though Dick was not playing today. The Pirates continued adding points with a single in the second, another single in the third, then two more runs in the fourth to lead 8-1. In the fifth both teams managed to add single runs, while in the sixth only the Pirates continued to add another two runs to lead 10-2. The seventh was busy again with the Maroons adding a single run, while the Pirates added another two. The eighth was a duplicate of the seventh keeping the Pirates in the lead to the end of the game with a score of Pirates 15 - Maroons 4.

In Game 3 Shedden took the early lead with a single in the first, added to that lead with two runs in the third, and kept that momentum with four in the fourth, while the Blues got on the scoreboard with three runs. Shedden pushed ahead again sending another four players around the bases in the fifth while the Blues inched ahead by only one keeping Shedden ahead 11-4. The Blues got back in the game in the sixth adding two, and then adding another four in the seventh to be only down by one. Now the game was close but somehow in the eighth Shedden managed to steal that Blues momentum adding the last two runs of the game giving Shedden the win with a final score of Shedden 13 - Blues 10.
