Sailors Take Blues, Shedden Takes Maroons, Pirates Take Boxall

The fourth set of games of the 2018 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Wednesday, May 30th in mainly sunny skies for the first two games, and partly cloudy and a few raindrops for the third with temperatures rising over the day to 28 degrees Celsius. The wind was from the southeast at 20 km/h gusting to 40 which didn't seem to have much effect on the games and a UV index of 9 or very high.

In Game 1 the Sailors took the early lead with three runs in the first while the Blues got on the scoreboard with two in the third. A busy fourth gave the Sailors another four runs, while the Blues picked up another two keeping the Sailors leading by three. The Blues managed to close the gap in the fifth with two, but the Sailors came back strong in the sixth with five runs, and in the eighth picked up another four, while the Blues only managed another two runs. The Sailors continued into the ninth with a single run easily winning the game with a score of Sailors 17 - Blues 8.

In Game 2 both the Maroons and Shedden got off to a good start with two in the first, and singles in the second keeping the game tied 3-3. In the third the Maroons pulled ahead by one with another five to Shedden's four runs. The Maroons extended their lead by a single in the fourth putting the Maroons ahead 9-7. The fifth inning was a quite surprise for the Maroons that lead the game for a while, as Shedden seemed to get it's second wind with five runs, picked up another two in the sixth, and another four runs in the eighth to steal the win from the Maroons with a score of Shedden 18 - Maroons 9.

In Game 3 the Pirates took an early lead with a single in the first, extended their lead with another five in the third, and three more in the sixth to lead 9-0. The seventh gave the Pirates another single, while Boxall finally got on the scoreboard with two runs. In the eighth the Pirates managed another three runs easily winning this game with a final score of Pirates 13 - Boxall 2.
