Pirates Sink Sailors, Blues Over Maroons, Boxall Takes Shedden

The twelfth set of games of the 2018 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Wednesday, July, 11th, 2018 in mostly sunny skies, with temperatures rising to 28 degrees Celsius and a Humidex of 33. The wind was from the north at 20 km/h, and the UV index was 9 or very high.

In Game 1 action was close until the fourth when the Pirates finally got on the scoreboard with four runs, kept that momentum going in the fifth making another five runs, and slowed down with two in the sixth to finish with eleven. Meanwhile the Sailors tried catching up with two in the sixth, one in the seventh, and ended with one in the eighth. Going into the nine inning the Pirates were leading 11-4, but found another four runs to win the game with a final score of Pirates 15 - Sailors 4.

In Game 2 the first inning was productive for both teams, first the Blues managed two runs, then the Maroons came back with four runs to lead 4-2. The second inning gave the Blues a single run, and then another three runs in the third to lead by two for a very short time, but the Maroons came back with another four runs in the bottom of the third to regain the lead 8-6. In the fifth the Blues came on strong sending four players around the bases taking back the lead with ten, while the Maroons gained another single to stay down by one at nine. In the seventh the Blues managed a single, and another in the eighth to finish with twelve, while the Maroons came close in the eighth with two runs to finish down only by one giving the win to the Blues with a final score of Blues 12 - Maroons 11.

In Game 3 both teams got on the scoreboard with two runs in the first, but the tie was short lived with Boxall taking the lead with two runs in the second. Shedden came back to tie the game with single runs in the fourth and fifth, and lead the game with a single run in the sixth, but again that was short lived. In the bottom of the sixth Boxall was down by one but managed to turn the game around on an error by sending five players around those bases taking the win in this seven inning game with a final score of Boxall 9 - Shedden 5.
