Pirates Finish Season in First Place

The twenty-fifth set of games of the 2017 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Wednesday, September, 13th in partly cloudy skies, with temperatures rising over the day to 26 degrees Celsius, and the wind from the South Southwest at 13 km/h. Today was the last game day for the Port Stanley Seniors Softball League, and to show support, there was a lot more fans that came out today to watch and cheer on their favourite players.

In Game 1 it would seem that today these two teams were evenly matched, as it took five innings for the Maroons to skip a beat, and let Boxall score the only two runs of the game. It was one of the closest games of the season, action right to the last moments of the game with the win finally going to Boxall with a final score of Boxall 2 - Maroons 0

In Game 2 the Pirates and Shedden both got on the scoreboard in the first with a single run. A short time later in the second Shedden pulled ahead by two runs, a single run in the third, and another single run in the fourth for a total of five. The Leagues first place team seemed to be having a hard time in this last game of the year, but finally managed to get a single run in the fifth, and scored two in the seventh to end, still down by one. Shedden still ahead had control of the game, and managed to extend their lead by another two runs in the ninth easily taking the win with a final score of Shedden 7 - Pirates 4

In Game 3 the Blues took the early lead with a single run in the second, while the Sailors tied the game in the third. The Blues seemed to be playing better today as they managed four in the fourth taking the lead with a total of five. Well in the fifth the Sailors were on a comeback that started with a single run, now they had two. It took awhile but finally in the eighth the Sailors blasted five around the bases taking the lead and finally the win with a final score of Sailors 7 - Blues 5.
