Pirates Back On Top Over Maroons, Shedden Sinks Blues, Sailors Sink Boxall

The fifteenth set of games of the 2018 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Wednesday, July, 25th, 2018 in mostly sunny skies with temperatures rising to 28 degrees Celsius. The UV index was at 8 or very high and the Humidex was at 34.

In Game 1 both teams seemed to get off to good starts in the first inning with the Pirates in front with five versus the Maroons just a tad behind with three runs. The Pirates continued that momentum into the second with a single, three runs in the third , and then another single in the fifth to lead 10 - 3. In the sixth the Maroons returned to active duty for a couple of innings with two runs, and then another four runs in the seventh to end with nine, down by only one. In the eighth the Pirates extended that single run lead by another five, and then in the ninth added two more to win the game with a final score of Pirates 17 - Maroons 9.

In Game 2 both teams again got off to good starts in the first inning with the Blues taking the lead with two runs versus Shedden with a single run. In the second inning the Blues seemed to stall out while Shedden motored on with two to take the lead, added four in the fourth, three in the fifth, two in the sixth, and finally three in the seventh to win the game with a final score of Shedden 15 - Blues 2.

In Game 3 both teams followed todays pattern getting off to good starts with the Sailors taking the lead with three runs versus Boxall with a single run. The Sailors extended their lead with a single run in the fourth, and another five runs in the top of the sixth, while Boxall managed two runs in the bottom of the sixth ending with the Sailors still on top 9 - 3. In the seventh the Sailors continued that winning momentum adding another single run, while in the eighth both teams managed to stay even with single runs each, but the last inning was all Sailors sending three around the bases to easily win the game with a final score of Sailors 14 - Boxall 4.
