Maroons Take Pirates, Shedden Over Blues, Sailors Stun Boxall

The second set of games of the 2018 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Wednesday, May 23rd in mainly sunny skies with temperatures rising over the day to 22 degrees Celsius. The wind was from the northwest at 20 km/h which didn't seem to have much effect on the games, and a UV index of 8 or very high.

In Game 1 the Maroons got off to a early lead with three runs in the first while the Pirates came back with a single in the second. The Maroons had a full roster today giving them the advantage which paid off big-time in the fourth with five runs and another two in the seventh. The Pirates were missing Dillon one of their best players today but managed to get another two runs in the seventh only to give the Maroons todays win with a score of Maroons 10 - Pirates 3.

In Game 2 Shedden got off to a early lead with two in the first, while the Blues came back with a single in the third. Shedden seemed to be playing well today making two in the fourth, and another three in the sixth, while the Blues made another two runs in the bottom of the sixth. With Shedden already leading 7-3 after the sixth, another five runs were added in the seventh, another single in the eighth, and another single in the ninth to end with fourteen. The Blues picked up another single in the ninth to end with four giving the win to Shedden with a score of Shedden 14 - Blues 4

In Game 3 the Sailors took the early lead with a single in the top of the first, only to have Boxall come back in the bottom of the first with two to lead by one, then another single in the third. The Sailors came back in the top of the sixth with three runs briefly taking the lead, while in the bottom of the sixth Boxall got a single tying the game. The Sailors got the lead back with two in the seventh, pushed ahead with another five in the eighth, and went all out making another seven runs in the ninth to finally end up with eighteen, while Boxall made two in the ninth to end with six with the win going to the Sailors with a final score of Sailors 18 - Boxall 6
