Boxall Take Maroons, Blues Sink Pirates, Sailors Over Shedden

The tenth set of games of the 2018 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Wednesday, July, 4th, 2018 in sunny skies, with temperatures rising to 32 degrees Celsius and a Humidex of 40. The wind was from the east at 7 km/h, and the UV index was 10 or very high. Today was a hot one and some players considered playing only seven innings.

In Game 1 the Maroons took the early lead in the second with two while Boxall picked up a single. In the fourth Boxall stole the lead with two, while the Maroons came back in the sixth with one to tie. The game was close through the seventh with both teams scoring a run keeping the game tied. On an error in the eighth Boxall gained a three point lead, while the Maroons managed only a single in the ninth giving the win to Boxall with a final score of Boxall 7 - Maroons 5.

In Game 2 the Blues were hot today sending five players around the bases in the first to take a big early lead, while the Pirates who had all their players show up today managed only two. In the third the Blues did it again sending another five around the bases for a total of ten, while the Pirates again managed only two. In the fourth the Pirates added a single, while the Blues added two in the fifth. The sixth gave the Pirates a single but with the Blues leading 12-6 time was running out for the Pirates. The Blues added a final single in the eighth to end with 13 while the Pirates managed to add another two runs in the ninth to finish with 8. Confucius say too little, too late, and boy those Blues were too hot to handle winning todays game with a final score of Blues 13 - Pirates 8.

In Game 3 Shedden took the early lead in the first with a single, added two runs in the third, and finally another single in the fourth to end with four, while the Sailors remained scoreless. Finally in the fifth the Sailors got a break on an error that got them on the scoreboard with three runs, but still they were down by one. The Sailors kept the pressure on and in the seventh inning added two runs to take the lead and the win with a final score of Sailors 5 - Shedden 4.
