Boxall Slips Past Blues For First Place Tie

The sixth set of games of the 2017 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Friday, June 9th in a mix of sun and cloud skies with temperatures rising over the day to 25 degrees Celsius. The wind was from the southwest at 20 km/h which didn't seem to have much effect on the games.

In Game 1 the Sailors managed to get off to a great start in the first with three runs while Shedden trailed with only one. In the second the Sailors were playing well adding five more runs to their lead, and then in the third adding just one to have a massive early lead with a score of 9-1. Shedden in the fourth returned with one, and then another in the fifth to settle with a total of three. While the Sailors extended their lead by another four to easily take the win with a final score of Sailors 13 - Shedden 3

In Game 2 the Pirates started things off with two in the first to take the early lead, and adding four more runs in the fourth to extend their lead by six. The Maroons started the 2017 season off with three high scoring wins leading the series but recently have been struggling to match that pace, the reason for the change is player attendance issues. In the sixth the Maroons got back into the game with three, but lost all hope in the seventh when the Pirates added three more to take the win with a score of Pirates 9 - Maroons 3

In Game 3 Boxall got the first run in the second, while the Blues tied it in the third. Boxall regained the lead by one in the fourth, extended their lead by another two in the sixth, and then by one more in the seventh. The Blues came back with three in the eighth, but were still behind by one to tie. In the ninth Boxall added one more to their lead, while the Blues fell short by only one in this close game with the win going to Boxall with a score of Boxall 6 - Blues 5
