Boxall Sinks Blues, Sailors Over Maroons, Shedden Sinks Pirates

The fourteenth set of games of the 2018 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Friday, July, 18th, 2018 in mostly cloudy skies, with the risk of showers later in the day, temperatures rising to 28 degrees Celsius and a Humidex of 28. The wind was from the south at 30 km/h gusting to 50, and the UV index was at 8 or very high.

In Game 1 Boxall got off to a great start with three in the first followed by five runs in the second, while the Blues managed a single run to get on the scoreboard in the third. Boxall continued with another three runs in the fourth, while the Blues picked up some momentum in the sixth with three which kept Boxall still leading 11-4. Momentum continued for Boxall in the seventh with Boxall earning a single run, while the eighth ended with Boxall doing better adding another five runs. Today Boxall seemed to own the field adding three more runs in the ninth, while the Blues were kept restricted to only a single run giving Boxall an easy win with a final score of Boxall 20 - Blues 5.

In Game 2 the Maroons got on the scoreboard with three runs in the first inning, while both teams managed a single in the second. The Sailors stole the lead for a short time in the top of the third with four runs, while the Maroons came back in the bottom with a single to tie. In the fourth the Sailors regained the lead adding three, while the Maroons came back short with two in the fifth. The game was close with the Sailors up by only one, but in the sixth the Sailors continued to pull ahead with one, then another in the top of the seventh to lead by three, only to see that lead go back to a single point when the Maroons brought home two more runs in the bottom of the seventh. At the beginning of the ninth inning The Sailors had only a single point lead, but added six runs in the top of the ninth, while the Maroons fell a little short in the bottom with three giving the win to the Sailors with a final score of Sailors 16 - Maroons 12.

In Game 3 Shedden came out with a bang in the first inning sending five players around the bases, while the Pirates seemed to be having trouble getting organized, but came through in the third with three. Shedden continued that momentum in the fifth with another five players going around the bases, while the Pirates came back with just two in the top of the sixth, but could not stop Shedden in the bottom of the sixth from another set of five. The seventh inning proved that sometimes things just go really well for one team, and today that team was Shedden which added another set of five to it's lead, meanwhile the Pirates only mustered up a single in the eighth to quietly hand off the win by a mile to Shedden with a final score of Shedden 20 - Pirates 6.
