Almost Rained Out

The eleventh set of games of the 2017 Port Stanley Senior Softball season were held Friday, July 7th in a mix of sun and cloud, with temperatures rising over the day to 28 degrees Celsius and the wind from North-West at 20 km/h. There was an early morning rain which led to alot of players not showing up for todays games, and that caused some players to fill the void, some even played all three games.

In Game 1 the Pirates took the early lead in the first with three runs, while the Blues were close behind with two. In the second the Pirates gained another three runs, and added a single in the third to lead with seven, while the Blues added another two runs ending with four. The fifth began with the Pirates adding another two runs, and ended with the Blues adding a single. The Pirates seemed to have the advantage today by adding another run in the sixth, the eighth, and the ninth to end with twelve, while the Blues had a last inning total of two, giving the win to the Pirates with a final score of Pirates 12 - Blues 7.

In Game 2 Shedden took the early lead in the first with two runs, while the Maroons managed one. In the fourth Shedden pushed ahead by another single, and added another five runs in the fifth. The Maroons still struggling with missing players managed a single to end with two, while Shedden was playing really well added one last run in the seventh, more than enough to easily take the win with a final score of Shedden 9 - Maroons 2.

In Game 3 the Sailors finally managed to get on the scoreboard in the third with three big runs, while Boxall managed a single in the fourth. The Sailors extended their lead by one in the fifth, but after that fell flat staying with four. The sixth ended with Boxall tying the game with another three runs, and took the lead with five big ones in the seventh to take the win with a final score of Boxall 9 - Sailors 4.
