Trojans Beat Sailors By One

On Saturday, October 7th, 2017 the Port Stanley Sailors played game seven of the season against the Thamesford Trojans at the Port Stanley Arena. This game against the Trojans should be a close game as these two teams are neck in neck so far this season, who wins will be decided on who can control the puck the most and take those better shots on goal.

The Trojans Chris Dimmers (14) got the first goal of the game at 6:41, with Cody Brock (8), and Codey McRoberts (12) assisting. Sailors came back to tie the game at 14:09 when Port Stanley's Dawson Cook (24) put the puck past Trojans Mitchell Van Eindhoven (30), with assists going to Tyler Foslett (9), and Nolan Blewett (13). The first period ended in a tie, and no penalties, but the Trojans seemed to have the upper hand with more shots on goal.

The second period proved to be a disaster for Port Stanley as the Trojans took complete control of the period scoring three goals. The first at 5:25 while shorthanded went to Kody Tremblay (17) assisted by Lucas Ojero (22). The second went to Nolan Brown (20) at 16:13, who got the puck on a turnover and scored unassisted. Number three happened in the last seconds of the period at 19:59 when Cody Clerc (18) scored, with Paul Lee (7), and Chris Dimmers (14) assisting giving the Trojans a healthy 4-1 lead.

The third period saw Port Stanley turning up the heat taking back control at 10:51 when Sailors Nolan Blewett (13) while shorthanded scored Port Stanley's second goal, with Dawson Cook (24) assisting. Port Stanley's third goal credit goes to Lane Westgate (23), with Jacob Knapman (5), and Matt Findlay (27) assisting at 17:36. Just when you thought that maybe the Sailors could win this game, at 18:40 Trojans Kolbe Doxtator (11) scored Thamesford's fifth goal, with Paul Lee (7), and Kurtis White (16) assisting to lead by two. Time was running out and with only a minute and twenty seconds left Port Stanley gave it's best when Dawson Cook (24) managed number four at 19:48 with assists to Nolan Blewett (13), Brady Allen (2). Even with an extra man advantage for twelve seconds which made for a exciting end, Port Stanley lost it's chance to tie giving the win to the Trojans, with the score of Thamesford Trojans 5 - Port Stanley Sailors 4.
