Spitfires Take Two In A Row

On Friday, February 10th, 2017 the Port Stanley Sailors played the second game of a best of seven PJHL Quarter-Final Playoffs against the Aylmer Spitfires on home ice at the Port Stanley Arena.

First goal honours went to the Aylmer Spitfires while shorthanded at 5:55, when Jake Morin (14) put the puck past Sailors goalie Ryan Langford (1), with Cody Underhill (16) assisting. Just past halfway through the first period at 10:39, this time on a power play, Spitfires Kyle DiCicco (13) put in Aylmer's second goal, with Mark MacPherson (24), and Jesiah Sweetland (17) assisting. With Aylmer taking almost twice as many shots on goal, persistence again paid off at 16:07 when Cody Underhill (16) scored Spitfires goal number three, with Dustin Dunlop (4), and Luke Regier (8) assisting.

Second period scoring started off at 4:51 with Sailors Ryan Humphrey (23) surprising Aylmer's goalie Andrew Harriman-Duke (35) with Port Stanley's first goal, with Kyle Hopper (16) assisting. This goal seemed to even out the offensive strategy for both teams, keeping the fans glued to their seats with some great end to end action. With less than four minutes remaining at 16:22, Aylmer's Mark MacPherson (24) scored goal number four, with Jesse Tottle (18), and Jesiah Sweetland (17) assisting. Port Stanley's Nicholas Phillips (4) put in the Sailors second goal on a power play at 17:45, with Dawson Cook (22), and Lucas Knight(15) assisting. Aylmer's fifth goal went in at 19:30 while shorthanded by Cody Underhill (16), with Jake Morin (14) assisting.

The third period proved to be an all out drive to the net for the Sailors with Port Stanley taking 27 shots on goal to Aylmer's six. With Aylmer getting all seven third period penalties, and spending fifteen minutes in the box, Aylmer's goalie Andrew Harriman-Duke (35) still managed to keep the third period scoreless, giving the Spitfires their second win of the PJHL Quarter-Final Playoffs with the score Aylmer Spitfires 5 - Port Stanley Sailors 2.
