Lancers Beat Sailors By Two

On Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 the Port Stanley Sailors played game four of the season against the Lambeth Lancers at the Port Stanley Arena. This game against the Lancers, who early this season are in first place in this years league standings was going to be another tough game for the Sailors to win.

The Lancers Donny Manzara (6) went unassisted to get the first goal of the game at 6:09 and a short time later at 7:36 Lancers Brock Trichilo (19) took credit for Lambeth's second goal, with Carson Esipu (22), and Mitchell Jenner (8) assisting. Port Stanley got on the scoreboard at 11:21 while shorthanded with a player in the penalty box, when Nolan Blewett (13) got the puck passed Lancers goalie Matt Waller (30), with Tyler Foslett (9) assisting. Lambeth seemed to have control of the game again when Lancers Carson Esipu (22) went all the way unassisted at 17:23 for Lambeth's third goal, and less than a minute later at 18:19, Lambeth's fourth goal by Billy Finney (23), with Carson Esipu (22), and Jonah Goodman (13) assisting giving Lambeth a healthy 4-1 lead for the first period.

In the first minute of the second period at 0:38, Sailors Nolan Blewett (13) scored his second shorthanded goal of the evening, with Ethan Parent (22), and Dawson Cook (24) assisting. It seemed that the Lancers were still playing effectively adding two more goals, the fifth at 11:38 by Jonah Goodman (13), with Carson Esipu (22) assisting, and the sixth at 19:23 with Billy Finney (23) going all the way unassisted.

The third period saw Port Stanley turn the game around with Sailors Tyler Foslett (9) leading the way unassisted at 4:05 for Port Stanley's third goal, and Tyler Foslett (9) scored again at 6:53, with Brayden Latimer (19) assisting for Port Stanley's fourth. Lambeth's Matt Clarke (5) scored Lancers seventh goal at 9:05, with Mitchell Jenner (8), and Carson Esipu (22) assisting. Time was running out but Port Stanley kept the pressure on, and with some success at 16:05 when Sailors Nick Knechtel (4), assisted by Tyler Simon (25) scored Port Stanley's fifth goal. The Sailors ran out of time giving the win to Lambeth with the score of Lambeth Lancers 7 - Port Stanley Sailors 5.
