On Tuesday, January 16th, 2018 the Port Stanley Sailors played their thirty-first game of the season against the Dorchester Dolphins at the St. Thomas Memorial Arena.

Sailors Kyle Hopper (16) was first to get past Dorchester's goalie Ryan Murray (31) at 2:04 of the first period with Eric Scherer (21), and Shane Kocsis-Cochrane (26) assisting. The Dolphins made the next three goals, the first at 4:21 by James Newland (8), with Brent House (14), and Nick Whitworth (24) assisting. The second at 6:56 by James Newland (8) with Dylan Van Dusen (25) assisting, and the third at 13:38 by Ryan Root (4) with Dylan Buckholz (6), and Jaden Glew (9) assisting. Shots on goal for the period were Dorchester Dolphins 18 - Port Stanley Sailors 10.

Dorchester got the first goal of the second period at 2:00 by Nick Whitworth (24) with Christian Huff (21) assisting. The Sailors followed with three goals in a row, the first at 4:04 by Dawson Cook (24) with Lane Westgate (23), and Derek Smith (10) assisting. The next at 7:55 was at unassisted by Brady Allen (2), and the third 8:28 by Lane Westgate (23) with Brayden Latimer (19), and Eric Scherer (21) assisting. In the last minute of the period at 19:13 Dolphins James Newland (8) scored Dorchester's last goal with Ryan Root (4), and Dylan Buckholz (6) assisting. Shots on goal were Dorchester Dolphins 14 - Port Stanley Sailors 18.

The third period continued to be a busy goal scoring period with both teams managing to put in three goals each, the first at 1:12 by Dorchester's Dylan Buckholz (6) with Nick Whitworth (24), and Carter Forget (2) assisting. The second at 5:45 on a power play by Dorchester's James Newland (8) with Dylan Buckholz (6), and Brent House (14) assisting. The next goal was put in at 7:44 on another power play, this time by Sailors Nic Love (17 with Derek Smith (10), and Dawson Cook (24) assisting. Dorchester's last goal of the game was on another power play at 9:47 by Dylan Buckholz (6) with Ryan Root (4), and Brent House (14) assisting. Port Stanley's Nic Love (17) put in the fourth power play goal of the period at 11:56 with Dawson Cook (24), and Derek Smith(10) assisting. The final goal was scored at 14:23 by Port Stanley's Austin Muscutt (3) with Tyler Foslett (9) assisting but left the Sailors still short by one to tie giving the win to the Dorchester Dolphins with a final score of Dorchester Dolphins 8 - Port Stanley Sailors 7.
