Over his tenure he has worked with many great Canadian writers including Chantal Kreviazuk, Raine Maida, K'NAAN, LIGHTS, USS, Elise LeGrow, Our Lady Peace, Tom Wilson, Stephan Moccio, Fefe Dobson, Anjulie, Murray McLauchlan and producer/writers Tawgs Salter, Rob Wells and Fanshawe's very own Mike Roth and David Martin, many of whom are recipients of gold, platinum and other music industry awards.

Previously Gary has served as Chairman of the CMRRA Board and Director of CARAS (JUNO AWARDS) as well as being a founding member and Director of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Currently he is on the Board of Directors of SOCAN, CMPA (Canadian Music Publishers Association) and Coalition Entertainment's – CMI (Canada's Music Incubator).

While on the CARAS board, Gary contributed to the development of the JUNO AWARDS "Songwriters' Circle" – a very special Canadian songwriters' event presented on JUNO weekend and received a JUNO Award for his Director participation from 2002-2006.

Gary was very supportive in the creation of the music industry's Unison Benevolent Fund, an assistance and referral program for, and by, the music community that provides emergency financial assistance and crisis management, insurance and counselling.

He has also supported War Child – an important organization that helps children in war-affected communities – for many years through Sony/ATV's songwriters Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maids's association with the cause.

For 2 decades, Gary has been integral to providing direction and leadership to the Music Industry Arts (MIA) program at Fanshawe College. As a member of the Program Advisory Committee, Gary has made major contributions that has helped MIA grow into one of the elite music, entertainment and audio production programs in North America.

Steve Cordes

Executive Director, Youth Opportunities Unlimited

In his 36 years with Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU), Steve has led and grown the organization from its modest beginnings based out of a social service incubator, to its current status as a non-profit leader in London. Its seven locations, four social enterprises and more than 70 staff and countless community partners are helping fulfil YOU's vision of "A community where youth are embraced and will thrive."

Under Cordes' leadership, Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) has developed into an internationally recognized and award-winning charitable organization in the area of youth services.

Most recently Steve is leading the development of two new major capital projects that will change the way youth access services. The New Addition will see a Youth Wellness Hub built to create a full suite of wraparound services for youth, as well as 40 affordable housing apartments for youth, young moms and moms-to-be.

The second major project will be an Emergency Shelter for Youth, providing emergency support for those most in need and an open doorway to access other YOU services available to youth.

With an infectious enthusiasm and strong vision, Cordes continues to push for what youth need, focusing on the best way to meet the needs of youth, not the best way to fit youth into a system that too often can see youth slip through the cracks.

Steve's leadership in the area of social enterprise and community development is widely recognized as he inspires YOU and the community to support youth, encouraging them to reach their potential by building skills, confidence and independence.

Steve is an avid cyclist, long distance runner and backyard gardener who is a graduate of Western University.
