Obituary for Cheryl Chase

Chase, Cheryl of Port Stanley, passed away Wednesday, June 7th , 2017, after ailing health, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 73.

Dearly loved wife and best friend of Wally Chase and much loved mother of Lori Brooks (Grant) and Kim Leonard of Thomasville, N.C. Cherished grandmother of Shannon, Chase, Mason and Spencer. Loved sister of Robert G. Cliffe and Judy Sheridan (late Vince). Dear sister-in-law of Lois Hyrtle (Gerry), Connie Habermann, Donna Pollard (Tom) and the late Jim Chase (late Val). Sadly missed by several nieces and nephews.

Cheryl was born in Montreal, Quebec on January 21, 1944, the daughter of the late Alan G. and Dorothy (Macdonald) Cliffe. She was a graduate of Katherine Gibbs School. She worked at Hartz Mountain, Sheridan and Associates and J.J.'s Fashions. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family, especially enjoyed her time with her Bridge Club. Family and friends brought tremendous joy to Cheryl.

Additional hobbies included golf, curling and volunteering with the Art Gallery of St. Thomas as well as the Canadian Legion Branch 410, Port Stanley. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi in her early days as well as the St. Thomas Golf and Country Club, Art Gallery of St. Thomas Women's Committee, St. Thomas Curling Club, Kettle Creek Golf Club and the Port Stanley Legion. Prior to starting her professional career, Cheryl devoted 17 years to her family as a homemaker and cherished the time spent with her family.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Sunday, June 11th from 2-5 p.m. The service will be held at the funeral home on Monday June 12th at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital.
