Traffic Stop Leads To Drugs and Search Warrant

October 8th, 2017 - On Saturday October 7th, 2017 shortly after 8 a.m. a St. Thomas Police officer conducted a traffic stop for Highway Traffic Act offences. The driver was arrested and searched, locating a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine. A further search of the vehicle netted more crystal methamphetamine, a quantity of ammunition, empty gun holsters and other weapons. A passenger of the vehicle was subsequently arrested and searched, locating a large quantity of Canadian currency.

Based on the items seized in the vehicle, a search warrant was conducted at a St. Thomas residence, which resulted the seizure of a large quantity of unknown white substance, various pills, a small quantity of crystal methamphetamine and cannabis. Also located were 2 replica firearms.

In the end, male #1 was charged with:

  • 1 count of CDSA 4(1) – Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • 1 count of CDSA 5(2) – Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • 2 counts of CC145(3) – Fail to Comply with Recognizance
  • 1 count of CC117.01(1) – Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

Male #2 was charged with:

  • 1 count of CDSA 4(1) – Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • 1 count of CDSA 5(2) – Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • 1 count of CC 733.1(1) – Breach of Probation
  • 1 count of CC117.01(1) – Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

The home owner was charged with:

  • 2 counts of CDSA 4(1) – Possession of a Controlled Substance (crystal methamphetamine and cannabis.)

In total approximately 18g for crystal methamphetamine, 186g of unknown white substance, various pills, 2 replica firearms and $2900 cash were seized. The unknown white substance will be sent for further analysis to determine its chemical make up with more charges possible with outcome of analysis.
