STPS  Thefts  Warrant  Foot Pursuit


February 6th, 2019 - Two St. Thomas women were arrested Monday February 4th after allegedly shoplifting from two different locations in the Smart Centre Plaza. Police were contacted when the women were observed by Walmart Loss Prevention acting suspicious in the store. Loss Prevention witnessed one of the women take off her shoes and exchange them for a brand new pair she took from the shelf. The second woman was observed hiding candy in her backpack. Police arrived at the store and arrested the two women. During a search, Officers located three hundred and fifty dollars worth of merchandise believed to have been stolen from Mark's Work Warehouse. As a result thirty four year old Stacey Lynne Vanderispaillie of St. Thomas and forty nine year old Cindy Faith Carter of St. Thomas are each charged with one count of Theft Under $5000. The women were both released on a Promise to Appear in Court next month.


Thirty seven year old Nicholas Thiessen of St. Thomas was arrested yesterday after officers spotted him walking down Kains Street. Thiessen was wanted on two separate warrants, one issued by St. Thomas Police and the second by Aylmer Police Service. The warrants stem from previous incidents in both jurisdictions for offences including Theft Under $5000, Breach of Release Conditions and Failing to Attend Court. Thiessen was taken into custody without incident and held at the Colin McGregor Justice Building overnight for a court appearance.

Foot Pursuit Ends In Arrest

Thirty two year Mathew Edward James Irwin of St. Thomas was arrested yesterday by officers after a short foot pursuit. Police first stopped Irwin on Hiawatha Street when they attempted to take him into custody on the strength of a warrant for Breach of Probation. Irwin took off from police running north bound on Hiawatha then west bound on Talbot Street. Officers chased Irwin stopping him a few blocks away. Irwin was taken into custody without further incident and later released on a Promise to Appear in Court next month. Irwin will face additional charges for fleeing from police.


A thirty nine year old St. Thomas woman was arrested at Walmart last night around 7 pm. Police were called to the store after Loss Prevention Officers noticed a woman concealing items in reusable shopping bags as she walked through the store. The woman went through the cash area paying for some smaller items but not the items she had hidden. Officers located the woman near the exit of the store and took her into custody without incident. She is charged one count of Theft Under $5000 and released on a Promise to Appear in Court next month.
