October 11th, 2018 - Police are investigating a break and enter to a utility trailer parked at a Melrose Court address. Suspects pried open the side door of the trailer and stole approximately ten thousand dollars worth of small construction tools sometime overnight Tuesday October 9th. All the tools are labelled with FCR5195360559. An twenty year old female inmate from the Elgin Middlessex Detention Centre has been charged with one count of Mischief Under $5000 after scratching her initials into the cell wall at the Elgin County Court House. The woman was transported to St. Thomas from the jail yesterday morning for court. She damaged the cell while waiting for her appearance. Damage is estimated at two hundred dollars. Security Officers at the court house charged the woman accordingly and added it to the list of charges she is already facing.

Domestic Assault

A thirty four year old St. Thomas man was arrested on a warrant for domestic violence last night around 10:30 pm during a traffic stop. Police had received a report from his thirty nine year old common law earlier in the week indicating several instances of violence had occurred in the home over several months. The man was taken into custody without incident and is now facing four counts of Domestic Assault and five counts of Assault with a Weapon. The man was held in custody overnight at the Colin McGregor Justice Building for court.
