July 7th, 2018 - On Friday July 6th, 2018 the St. Thomas police arrested a 26 year
old male who had outstanding warrants. The male was taken to the court house where
we was released, however another neighbouring police agency had warrants for the
same male. He was subsequently arrested on the strength of those warrants and transported
to that agency.
On Saturday July 7th, 2018 the St. Thomas police investigated 2 more stolen trucks
that were stolen over night.
The first was a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4×4, blue in colour with a metal tool
box in the rear box. It had ‘Rob Gillies Truck and auto’ written on the side doors.
The licence plate attached at the time of the theft was AJ95904.
The second stolen truck was a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, pewter(gray) in colour.
The licence plate attached at the time of the theft was 1839XF.
SIU Terminates Investigation
July 5th, 2018 - On May 24th, 2018 at the request of Chief Chris Herridge, the Special
Investigations Unit (SIU) was contacted after the St. Thomas Police received a complaint
about an incident that occurred on May 23rd where a twenty six year old St. Thomas
male was injured during his arrest on an outstanding warrant.
Members of the SIU attended St. Thomas to commence their investigation on May 24th.
On July 5th, 2018 The St. Thomas Police Service was notified that the investigation
had been terminated.
The Special Investigations Unit is the civilian oversight agency responsible for
investigating circumstances involving police that have resulted in a death, serious
injury or allegations of sexual assault of a civilian in Ontario.
