OPP Investigate Rollover On Highway 401

Elgin County, ON - On March 8, 2018, around 5:45 a.m. Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a commercial motor vehicle rollover on Highway 401 near Iona Road.

Investigation revealed a westbound commercial motor vehicle had lost control and entered the centre median. As a result, the driver counter steered causing the vehicle to roll onto its side spilling its load of metal manufacturing excess. The vehicle came to rest in the north ditch. There were no injuries reported.

As a result, the male driver, Trevor SIMMS, 45-years-old of Kitchener, Ontario has been charged with careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Highway 401 westbound was closed for approximately five hours to allow for clean-up and removal the vehicle.
