Shedden Leading This Season With 7 Wins

Boxall Wins 10-5 Over Pirates, Blues Win 8-5 Over Sailors, Shedden Wins 10-1 Over Maroons

The seventh set of games of the Paul Caldwell Wooden Bats League 2019 season were held Wednesday, June, 19th in mostly sunny skies with a high for the day a balmy 25 degrees Celsius, and the wind was from the ESE at 7 km/h. The Humidex reached 31 and the UV index was 9 or very high. Today was the warmest day so far this season and most players seemed to be playing better for it.

In Game 1 Boxall took control early in the game with a single in the first, two runs in the second, a single in the third, and finally settling for a single in the fifth before the Pirates managed to get on the scoreboard with two runs. The sixth inning gave both teams a single, while the seventh added three runs for Boxall and two runs for the Pirates. Boxall scored the last run of the game in the eighth to easily win the game with a final score of Boxall 10 - Pirates 5.

In Game 2 the Blues managed two runs in the first to take the early lead, while in the third the Blues managed to send five players around the bases and the Sailors got on the scoreboard with a single. In the fifth the Sailors managed to close the gap a little with three runs, while the Blues added to their four point lead with a single in the sixth. The Sailors managed the last run of the game in the ninth but it was a case of too little too late so the win went to the Blues with a final score of Blues 8 - Sailors 5.

Game 3 was not another close game and it seemed like the Maroons were headed for an empty scorecard but it's funny how some things can change at the last minute. Shedden seemed to have full control of the game with two runs in the first, five in the third, another two runs in the fifth and finally ending with a single in the sixth to lead by ten. The innings pasted by with the Maroons scoreless until the final moments of the ninth when finally the Maroons came through with just a single run. The cheers seemed endless and were the biggest team spirit demonstration this year, but the win still went to Shedden with a final score of Shedden 10 - Maroons 1.
