Maroons Take Boxall 43, Blues Take Win Over Shedden 90, Pirates Sink Sailors 64

The eighteenth set of games of the Paul Caldwell Wooden Bats League 2019 season were held Wednesday, August, 28th in a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 24 degrees Celsius with the wind from the west at 20 km/h gusting to 40 km/h. The Humidex reached 27 and the UV index was 6 or high.

In Game 1 Boxall got on the scoreboard with a single run in the first, then added another in the third inning, while the Maroons took a little longer with a single run in the fifth. Boxall was leading the game right up to the seventh inning but seemed to fall flat giving the Maroons three runs which put the Maroons ahead by two. Boxall did pick up a bit of steam in the ninth adding just a single run giving the win in this close game to the Maroons with a final score of Maroons 4 - Boxall 3.

In Game 2 Shedden lost to the Blues by forfeiting the game due to low player turnout. I don't think that Shedden players will lose any sleep over that loss as they are way ahead in the league standings. The funny thing is that they won the practice game that was played and won 14-1. Blues 9 - Shedden 0.

In Game 3 the Pirates came on strong in the second inning sending five players around the bases to take the lead, added another in the third, while the Sailors finally got on the scoreboard with two runs. The Pirates kept that four point advantage until the seventh when the Sailors came back with two runs, the last runs of the game which kept the Pirates leading by two and finally the win with a final score of Pirates 6 - Sailors 4.
