Boxall Wins 111 Over Blues, Maroons Win 92 Over Pirates, Shedden Wins 65 Over Sailors

The fifth set of games of the Paul Caldwell Wooden Bats League 2019 season were held Wednesday, June, 5th in cloudy skies with periods of rain. High for the day hit a balmy 21 degrees Celsius, and the wind was from the WSW at 12 km/h.

In Game 1 the Blues got off to a good start taking the early lead in the first inning with a single while it rained. Meanwhile Boxall seemed to be holding back because of the rain, but turned things around in the fourth to take that lead with two runs, and then again in the fifth and sixth with singles. The game stopped for a few minutes while the rain began to pour. Teams scattered to find shelter under umbrellas that opened in a flash. When the game restarted a few minutes later, it seemed like Boxall now had an advantage of drier clothes and faster legs which took another five players around the bases in the seventh and added two more runs in the eighth to easily take a wet win with a final score of Boxall 11 - Blues 1.

In Game 2 the Maroons and the Pirates both got single runs in the first to tie, but the tie was short lived and in the second the Pirates managed another single run to take the lead. The Pirates lead lasted until the fourth when the Maroons came back to tie the game with a single, took the lead in the fifth with two, extended their lead in the sixth with another two runs, and finally another three runs in the seventh. The Maroons managed a well played come back that gave them an easy victory over the Pirates with a final score of Maroons 9 - Pirates 2.

Game 3 was another close game with Shedden scoring first with four runs in the third and adding a single in the fourth, while the Sailors took a little longer scoring five runs in the fourth to tie the game. The game remained tied until the sixth when Shedden managed just a single run to take the lead, but that ended up being just enough to take the win with a final score of Shedden 6 - Sailors 5.
