Thursday, March 22, 2018 – More than 1,300 talented students in 23 different ensembles
from across the Thames Valley district will come together to perform an innovative
concert at Budweiser Gardens on Thursday, April 26th.
"This is not your typical school music night! Be prepared to be entertained, enlightened,
emotionally moved and awestruck at the sheer number of musicians joining forces
on the Budweiser Gardens stage," says Shawn Chabot, music teacher at Saunders Secondary
School and committee member.
There promises to be something for everyone's musical taste as concert bands, jazz
bands, choirs, guitar ensembles and orchestras will showcase music spanning several
decades and styles including video game music, pop, rock, jazz as well as contemporary
concert band and orchestra repertoire. The program will also feature the Latin rhythms
of the percussion ensemble from South Secondary School and Strathroy District Collegiate
To top it off, each half of the program will conclude with a performance from the
TVDSB Honour Jazz and Honour Bands, ensembles that combine the top musicians from
across Thames Valley.
"Our mandate is variety and collaboration and this year is no exception," says Chabot.
Thames Valley's music programs are among the strongest in the province, with high
levels of participation and dedicated educators. The program committee is comprised
of faculty and teachers from various secondary schools throughout the Thames Valley.
The event is sponsored by London Life and 98.1 Free Fm.
