Today was the final day of the 2016 season for GT’s Beach Bar & Grill. For everybody
that enjoys going to GT's, this is the day that really means that Fall is finally here.
With a combination of open-air, beach, and a great view, this establishment owes
much of it's success on the weather, and owner Carol Gates today said that "This
year, with all the great weather we had this season, this has been the best year
A sunny day for their last, meant that patrons could come for a visit, enjoy a great
last meal, take in some of GT’s ambience, a fantastic beach view, and say "Good Bye"
for another year. And as I left GT's, I could still hear Carol saying "Thanks to
everyone for enjoying GTs and Port Stanley and we will see you all again in 2017!"
Sport in Port was another business getting ready to close and was busy selling off
their wares at a hefty discount. Owner Eric Salin said that he was only closing
the storefront, and that his operation would only be different, he would still have
Sport in Port on-line, and be at the beach in the summer. After taking a closer
look at his business, he decided that closing the shop after four years meant, not
having to man the store year-round, being able to focus on the beach rentals, that was
the money-maker, and that this would also allow him the opportunity for a weekend off.
