Miles is only 9 months old and is waiting at the London Children's Hospital for
a liver and kidney transplant that will take place if he can reach a minimum target
weight of twenty pounds. Miles was born premature coming into this world at 2 lbs.
7 oz. and was a totally perfect 14.5 inches long.
After a month's stay in the hospital to bring his weight up, Miles came home to
Port Stanley to the delight of his parents, Breanna and Chris Pawlak. Two weeks
later, Miles was back in the hospital with his liver making him sick and under going
several tests trying to find out the reasons why.
Sad news for Miles as he was diagnosed with Alagille syndrome. It's not life threatening
unless the liver goes into failure, then he would need a liver transplant. Miles
was in and out of the hospital several times with the last just before Christmas
that would keep him in the hospital over the holidays. He was still a very sick
little boy and was waiting for an appointment at the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital
where he would be assessed for a liver transplant and possibly a kidney transplant
as well on January 14, 2019 for a week.
Miles family was overwhelmed trying to cover all the extra costs, transportation
back and forth to the hospitals, day care for big brother, gas, etc but got to a
point where they asked for any financial help from anyone that could give. Smiles
for Miles is their campaign with a message that says as no matter what they may
do to him or happens to him, he will always have a special smile for anyone who
