Report of Activities of the Port Stanley Lioness Club 2018-2019

At their last meeting in June, the Port Stanley Lioness Club inducted their executive for the 2019-2020 year. Incoming President will be Lioness Rose Mary Johnstone. We are a group of hard working women who come together to support our Community and those in need further afield, while having fun at the same time. Our Club meets on the second Wednesday (from September to June) at the Legion in Port Stanley. This is a Dinner Meeting. We have several excellent speakers lined up for many of our meetings as well as fun nights. The Directors meet on the fourth Monday night at the United Church.

This past year the Club has been busy with many fundraisers including Ladies Night Wine and Cheese , Community Bazaar, Quartermanias, Chili Supper, Walk For Guide Dogs, and Working Bingos at Jackpot City. These Fundraisers have realized profits this year of over $45,000 which the Club donates back to our Community, local charities as well as Lions Pro-jects.

We supported our local School with funding for new school t-shirts as well as $3000 towards the new Outdoor Classroom. We donated to Minor Hockey, the Library, Community Policing, Foodbank, Firemen, Legion, Christmas Care, Dickens Days Parade, Seniors Footcare Clinics and Port Stanley Festival Theatre.

We support Farmtown, Serenity House, Youth Mental Health, Inn out of the cold, Fresh Start, Another Chance Wildlife as well as many other local organizations.

We support many of the Lions Club Camps that host families who need Dialysis while at camp, Diabetes patients, People with visual impairment as well as Camp Wood Eden outside of London.

One of the major recipients of our funds go to Lions Foundation of Canada that supports the training of Service dogs at their Oakville facility. They train dogs for the Blind, Autism Support dogs, Hearing Ear dogs, Special Needs Dogs and Diabetic Alert Dogs and Seizure Response Dogs.

The St Thomas Elgin General Hospital also received a donation of $4500 that was raised at our Annual Ladies Night. This is just a partial list of the people and organizations that are recipients of our Fundraising profits.

We would like to thank the residents of Port Stanley and the surrounding Community who have generously supported all of our Fundraising projects. Without this support we would not have been able to make these donations. Thank you so much!
