Leamington, ON - On May 8, 2019 at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP), Leamington Fire Services and Essex Windsor Emergency Medical Services
(EMS) responded to the report of a capsized boat at the Leamington Marina.
The operator and sole occupant, a 26 year old Leamington man who was not wearing
a life preserver was thrown from the boat into the frigid waters of Lake Erie. Luckily
he was able to make his way to shore and although cold, suffered no injuries.
The OPP caution those venturing onto the waterways to be aware of changing weather
and water conditions. It is imperative to always wear a life jacket and take all
necessary safety precautions.
