St. Thomas, ON, February 14, 2019 - On Wednesday, February 13th, Karen Vecchio,
Member of Parliament hosted three separate roundtables to hear from constituents
of Elgin-Middlesex-London. The roundtables included small businesses, municipal
leaders and agricultural producers.
"The opportunity to hear from the participants provides me the knowledge and insight
on the challenges that communities and businesses face," stated Vecchio. The USMCA
(NAFTA renegotiations), taxation, international relations, labour, housing and transportation
were key issues discussed.
"It was very clear that small businesses are concerned about the increased costs
of operating including the changes to the payroll taxes and the carbon tax," Vecchio
stated. "Canadians are facing a number of barriers and as elected officials we must
understand these concerns and find a pathway to address them."
