Proceeds Support Local Environmental Efforts

St. Thomas, Ontario - April 25, 2018 - Kettle Creek Environmental Trust (KCET) is pleased to announce that SpellBound 2018 raised $12,000 this past weekend (April 21, 2018). Proceeds from the fundraiser will support local environmental efforts including wetland restoration, environmental education and reforestation.

SpellBound is a fun spelling bee in which teams of six work together to spell words. This year the top spelling team and winner of the coveted Smarty Pants Award was the EBeeRCs from the Elgin Business Resource Centre (EBRC). In addition to being terrific spellers EBRC is a great community supporter – donating their prize winning of $300 back to KCET.

"This is the only fundraiser for the Trust say," says Elizabeth VanHooren, a member of the organizing committee. "Since 2015 the event has raised $50,000 which is completely directed to on the ground works."

KCET was founded in 2006 by members of the Kettle Creek watershed community who wanted to ensure that money raised locally for environmental efforts remained local. To learn more about KCET, please visit http://kettlecreektrust.com/
