Dalewood Reservoir Trail Partially Closed

St. Thomas, Ontario - May 3, 2018 - A portion of the Dalewood Reservoir Trail will remain closed for the 2018 season as construction is set to begin on the new Dalewood Bridge.

"The Dalewood Bridge is currently closed, and will soon be an active construction site," says Elizabeth VanHooren, General Manager of Kettle Creek Conservation Authority. "This will necessitate closing the Dalewood Reservoir trail in the vicinity of the bridge – breaking the loop nature of the trail."

With the bridge soon to be under construction the closure of the trail loop will be strictly enforced. The Dalewood Road Parking lot at the trailhead will also remain closed.

Trail users are still able to access the majority of the Dalewood Reservoir Hiking Trail. Alternative entry points can be found on Locke Ave, Sutherland Court and Donker Drive.

"We recognize that the loop is a defining feature of the trail," says VanHooren "But the new bridge will include a safe pedestrian access so it really is a short term inconvenience for long-term gain."

Kayakers, canoeists and other users of the reservoir are also reminded to stay clear of the area in and around the bridge during demolition and construction activities.

Kettle Creek Conservation Authority manages over 26 kilometres of hiking trails and two campgrounds – Dalewood and Lake Whittaker – that are now open to the public. For more information on KCCA's programs and services visit www.kettlecreekconservation.on.ca
