Company Fined 800 for Commercial Fishing Violation

July 12, 2018 - A Point Edward company has been fined $800 for a commercial fishing violation on Lake Huron.

Purdy Fisheries Limited pleaded guilty and was fined $800 for failing to properly submit a daily catch report, a requirement of its commercial fishing licence.

Court heard that on December 19, 2017, a captain acting on behalf of the company failed to submit a copy of a daily catch report prior to offloading that day's catch of fish.

Justice of the Peace Helen Gale heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Sarnia, on July 4, 2018.
