St. Thomas, ON, January 30, 2020 - Karen Vecchio, Member of Parliament for Elgin-Middlesex-London
and Shadow Minister for Women and Gender Equality is pleased to announce that the
application period for Canada Summer Jobs 2020 is now open and will remain available
for applications until February 24, 2020.
Canada Summer Jobs funding provides wage aids to employers from the not-for-proﬁt,
public, and private sectors to create quality summer work experiences for young
people. In delivering on these objectives, the Government of Canada seeks to ensure
that quality job placements occur in inclusive, safe and respectful work environments.
In the constituency of Elgin-Middlesex-London, the priorities focus on projects
taking place in rural areas, projects supporting local and regional tourism development,
manufacturing, projects supporting skilled trades.
"Canada Summer Jobs encourages local employers to hire youth in their communities
and equips youth with valuable skills and relevant job experience," said Vecchio.
"I look forward to visiting several Canada Summer Job employers and their youth
to show my support and get a ﬁrst-hand view of the important job opportunities that
are created through the program."
