March 22, 2018 - A Calgary-based oil and gas producer has been fined $2,250 for
failing to submit a well licence fee.
Taqa North Ltd. pleaded guilty and was fined $2,250 for failing to submit the annual
licence fee for oil and gas production in 2016, under the Oil, Salt and Gas Resources
Court heard that the company failed to pay the well licence fee by the deadline
of February 15, 2017.
Justice of the Peace Anna Hampson heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice,
London, on March 5, 2018.
The oil and gas industry must comply with a detailed set of rules regarding the
operation of wells. Oil and gas producers are required to submit annual well status
reports and pay a licence fee, based on the reported production.
