Thursday, August 08, 2019 - Members of the Woodstock Police Bike Patrol Unit were kept busy last week keeping
the community safe by focusing on Seatbelt, Distracted Driving, and other Highway
Traffic Act infractions. The officers set up in different locations throughout the
City of Woodstock with a focus on the downtown core.
Over the course of three days, officers from the bike unit conducted numerous traffic
stops of vehicles with 8 traffic tickets being handed out to drivers for not wearing
seatbelts and for distracted driving.
Police would like to remind drivers to buckle up at all times and make sure themselves
and others in the vehicle are wearing the seatbelt properly.
Drivers are also reminded to pay attention to other bike riders, pedestrians and
other vehicles that are using the roads by keeping their cellphones out of sight
and out of reach. If convicted for a first time offence of distracted driving, the
driver can be fined up to $1000.00, lose their licence for three days and cost them
three demerit points.
Stay safe Woodstock.
