Youths Arrested

June 26th, 2019 - St Thomas Police have arrested four youths in connection to a disturbance near a local high school that occurred back on Tuesday June 18th. Three fifteen year old females and one fourteen year old female from London attended St. Thomas with a group of youths over a disagreement with some students from St. Thomas. The four were involved in a physical altercation that has resulted in them all being charged each with one count of Assault. One fifteen year old was additionally charged with one count Robbery with Theft and one count Breach of Youth Probation. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and police urge victims to come forward to police if they have not already done so. Theft

A twenty nine year old St Thomas man was arrested Monday afternoon around 4:30 pm as he rode his bike down Burwell Rd. Officers on general patrol recognized the male as a suspect shoplifter from a Walmart security video. Loss Prevention Officers forwarded the video to police after they recorded the male back on June 18th enter the store and steal several tools. The man was taken into custody without incident and later released on a Promise to Appear in Court. He is charged with one count of Theft Under $5000.

Theft

An alert citizen who took the initiative to report suspicious activity has helped police arrest a thief and return stolen property to the rightful owner. The incident began when a citizen called police back on June 12th to report a suspicious male walking down the street at 11:30 pm going into several back yards with a weed eater over his shoulder. Officers attended the area, identified the male as thirty eight year old Kevin Ashford of St. Thomas and seized the weed eater for investigation. Information gathered later on by the STPS Street Crimes Unit revealed the weed eater was stolen from an address close to where the male was stopped and questioned. The owner was tracked down through a product serial number and the weed eater was returned. Ashford is now charged one count Theft Under $5000, one count Possession of Stolen Property and once count Breach of Release Conditions. Arrest

A thirty six year old St. Thomas man has been arrested after he smashed a car window to steal a purple Calvin Klein purse. The theft occurred back on June 19th when the suspect was recorded on security video a short time later using a stolen credit card he located inside the purse. Officers were eventually able to identify the man in the video and located him on Talbot Street yesterday afternoon. The man was taken into custody without incident and is now charged one count Mischief Under $5000, one count Theft Under $5000 and one count Breach of Release Conditions. He was later released on a Promise to Appear in Court.
