STPS  Warrants  Cannabis Seized During RIDE


April 30th, 2019 - A twenty three year old Aylmer man wanted on a warrant turned himself in at the Colin McGregor Justice Building early yesterday morning. The man was wanted for two counts of assault, one count Mischief Under $5000 and two counts Breach of Release Conditions. The man was taken into custody without incident and later released on a Promise to Appear in Court.


A thirty five year old St Thomas man was arrested yesterday morning around 10:30 am by security at the Elgin County Court House. The man had attended on an unrelated matter when court security discovered the warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody without incident and held for a court appearance. The warrant was issued in connection to an incident back in 2018 where the man was charged with three counts of Assault and then failed to attend his court date to answer to the charges.


A twenty nine year old St Thomas man wanted on a warrant was arrested by Officers on patrol yesterday around the noon hour after they observed him walking on Hiawatha Street. The man was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Elgin County Court House for an appearance. The man was wanted on two counts Breach of Release Conditions and one count of Theft Under $5000 all while being at large in the community released on a court order after being charged with several break and enter related offences.

Officers Seize Cannabis During R.I.D.E

St. Thomas Police conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere spot check early this morning just after midnight. Approximately forty drivers were stopped with one being pulled over for further inspection. Officers detected a strong odour of cannabis coming from the vehicle and demanded the seventeen year old female driver take a Standard Field Sobriety Test. The driver passed the test however ten grams of Cannabis was seized from her eighteen year old passenger. He was issued a fine for Possession of Cannabis Under 19 years contrary to the Cannabis Act.
