Vehicle Strikes Train
February 22nd, 2019 - On February 21st at approximately 1 pm police and emergency
services responded to First Ave. south of Edward Street after a motor vehicle collided
with a moving train. The vehicle was travelling south on First Ave. when it collided
with a train that was reversing east bound. The vehicle was dragged a short distance
before the train came to a full stop. The female driver was the lone occupant of
the vehicle and was not seriously injured. She was charged with careless driving.
At approximately 2:15 pm police responded to Walmart where loss prevention had a
39 year old male in custody for shoplifting. The male was turned over to police
without incident. He was charged with Theft Under $5000.00 and one count of Breaching
his Probation. The stolen merchandise was recovered.
Woman Arrested on Warrants
At approximately 4 pm police were dispatched to a north end variety store to deal
with a trespasser. Investigation revealed the individual had outstanding arrest
warrants on file. The 41 year old woman was arrested and transported to the police
station and held for court.
