August 7th, 2019 - Two St. Thomas men have been arrested and seventeen thousand
dollars worth of illicit drugs have been seized thanks to the hard work and dedication
of the STPS street crimes unit.
The incident happened last night around 9:30 pm when Street Crime Officers conducted
a traffic stop on a vehicle they suspected to be transporting a large amount of
Fentanyl to the city. Police stopped the car on a north side residential street
where officers took the driver and passenger into custody. Officers located seventeen
grams of purple Fentanyl and eighty seven grams of Crystal Methamphetamine inside
the vehicle. The drugs which were destined for the streets of St. Thomas have a
street value of seventeen thousand dollars. As a result of the investigation fifty
two year old Dwayne Terry Brown and his accomplice thirty one year old Donald Justin
Kuipers both of St. Thomas are now each charged with two counts of Possession for
the Purpose of Trafficking (1x Fentanyl and 1x Crystal Methamphetamine).
St. Thomas Police would like to warn residents of the dangers of Illegal Fentanyl.
The drug is a potent synthetic Opioid that is fifty times stronger than heroin.
It only takes a small amount to suffer a fatal overdose. Illegal versions of the
drug are much stronger than the prescription version. Please call the STPS Street
Crimes Unit or Crime Stoppers if you know anyone who is using or selling Fentanyl.
They are putting their own life and the lives of others at risk.
