Stolen Debit Card

May 21st, 2019 - St. Thomas Police are looking to arrest a thirty three year old local man recorded on security video using a stolen debit card. The thief found a debit card that had been accidentally left in an ATM by its owner. Instead of returning the card, the man made several purchases at four different downtown convenience stores and restaurants totaling around one hundred and fifty dollars. The owner realized his card was lost the next day and reported a theft to police when he checked his account online and discovered the suspicious activity. The accused is now wanted for two counts Breach of Release Conditions, four counts Fraud Under $5000 and one count Use Stolen Debit Card.

Long Weekend Keeps Officers Busy Conducting R.I.D.E. Checks

Officers from the St. Thomas Police Service were doing their part in the provincial #drivesafe initiative by holding three separate R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot checks.

Saturday officers set up around 9 pm stopping approximately one hundred vehicles and finding zero infractions

Sunday officers set up around 4 pm stopping approximately six hundred vehicles and issuing one three day suspension

Monday officers set up around 8 pm stopping approximately one hundred vehicles and issuing two roadside screening test for alcohol. Both drivers registered a pass and were sent on their way.

Stolen Bike

Police are investigating after a bike was stolen from outside the west end Tim Hortons early Sunday morning around 6 am. The seven speed, dark green mountain bike with balloon tires was left outside propped up against a garbage bin when it was stolen. A twenty eight year old man identified through security video is wanted by police after he was recorded stealing packages of bacon from a west end grocery store on the weekend. Officers will be putting out a warrant for the man.


A fifty two year old man was arrested Monday afternoon on Talbot Street after being wanted by police for shoplifting from Walmart earlier in the week. The man was recorded on security video taking products from the electronics department and leaving the store without paying for them. He was quickly identified by officers and arrested after they noticed him downtown. The man was released on an Appearance Notice for Court.
