February 20th, 2019 - SIU Update
On June 5th, 2018 The Special Investigations Unit was contacted by Chief Chris Herridge
after the St. Thomas Police Service received a complaint about an incident that
occurred on June 2nd, 2018 where a twenty nine year old female from London alleged
she was assaulted after being arrested.
On Wednesday June 6th investigators from the SIU attended St. Thomas to commence
On Monday February 11th, 2019 the SIU contacted Chief Chris Herridge to advise their
investigation was closed and no further action will be taken. There are no ground
in the evidence to proceed with criminal charges against the Officers.
A twenty six year old St. Thomas man was arrested yesterday after fleeing from Loss
Prevention Officers at Walmart. The man was observed shoplifting in the store and
was arrested by Loss Prevention as he left the store with the stolen merchandise.
The man took off running and was later observed by Police on Wellington St. The
man was taken into custody without incident and charged one count Theft Under $5000
and one count Escape Lawful Custody. He was later released on a Promise to Appear
Failing to Appear For Fingerprints
A twenty four year old London woman is charged with one count of Failing to Appear
For Fingerprints after she did not make her scheduled appointment at the Colin McGregor
Justice Building. The woman had been released on a Promise to Appear in Court with
a fingerprint date earlier in January after being charged with one count Theft Under
$5000 by St. Thomas Police officers. A warrant will be sought for her arrest.
