Two Arrested After Shoplifting

June 14th, 2019 - A thirty six year old London man was arrested during a traffic stop on Talbot Street yesterday afternoon around 4 pm after shoplifting from Walmart. The man was observed by Loss Prevention Officers inside the store stealing video games and DVD's. The man got into the back seat of a Chevrolet Cruze and left the parking lot before store staff could arrest him. Police were notified and located the vehicle on Talbot Street. The man was taken into custody without incident and approximately five hundred dollars worth of stolen merchandise was recovered. During the arrest the man was also found to be in possession of a stolen credit card. As a result he was charged one count Theft Under $5000, one count Possession of Stolen Property and one count Breach of Release Conditions. He was later released on a Promise to Appear in Court. The driver of the vehicle, a sixty two year old London woman was arrested during the traffic stop and charged with Driving While Under Suspension. The woman was under suspension for an Impaired Operation offence. She was released on a summons for court. The vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days.

Domestic Assault

A twenty eight year old man was arrested last night around 10 pm after an argument with this twenty seven year old girlfriend became physical. The man is alleged to have punched and kicked the female. The man was taken into custody without incident and charged one count Domestic Assault and three counts Breach of Release Conditions. The man was held at the Colin McGregor Justice Building overnight for court. Minor injuries were reported as the result of the incident.


A thirty eight year old St. Elgin County man wanted on a warrant by STPS was arrested by the O.P.P early this morning around 3 am. Officers from the Elgin County detachment had been dealing with the man on an unrelated matter when they discovered he was wanted. The man was taken into custody without incident and transferred to St. Thomas Police for processing. The warrant was issued after the man was recorded on security video last month leaving Walmart with a cart full of stolen merchandise valued at just over one thousand dollars. He was held at the Colin McGregor Justice Building for court.
